The increased activity on the exchange marked the last month of autumn 2021
The exchange trading volume in November 2021 amounted to 538.1 GWh – 29% more comparing to the previous month (October 2021 – 416.3 GWh). 151.3 GWh from the total traded volume were fulfilled in cross-border transactions – 68% more comparing to the previous month (October 2021 – 90.2 GWh). In November, gas exchange participants actively submitted orders – the volume of orders to buy gas amounted to 2.2 TWh, and to sell – 7 TWh. Compared to October, the volume of orders to purchase gas increased by 110%, while the volume of orders to sell raised by 253%. In November, 1,715 transactions were concluded on the gas exchange (1,467 in October 2021). 47 participants actively submitted orders to the exchange, all of them successfully concluded transactions.
The Baltic and Finnish natural gas price index BGSI, which captures price changes on a daily market, is rising for the eighth month in a row. Compared to October, the price increased by 22%: from 66.85 EUR/MWh to 81.86 EUR/MWh. Participants who concluded transactions in Lithuanian market area paid the weighted average price of 82.21 EUR/MWh (↑23%), in Latvian-Estonian common market area – 78.88 EUR/MWh (↑17%), and in Finland – 83.18 EUR/MWh (↑24%).
