The trading remains stable in July, the volumes of cross-borders transactions grew
In July, after concluding 1,801 transactions on the exchange, trading turnover reached 334 GWh of natural gas, of which 331 GWh were traded in the daily market and 3 GWh in the monthly market. From the total gas traded, 131 GWh were cross-border (ICA) transactions, which is 19% more than last month (June 2022 – 110 GWh) or twice as much compared to the same period last year (July 2021 – 65 GWh). In July, the trading on the gas exchange was stable, the amount of gas purchased and sold was relatively evenly distributed on all market areas. Since the beginning of the year, the turnover of the exchange has already exceeded 4 TWh of natural gas. In July, 49 exchange participants actively submitted orders on the exchange, 48 of them successfully concluded transactions.
Prices of individual transactions in July ranged from 130.00 EUR/MWh to 206.26 EUR/MWh. In July, the value of the Baltic and Finnish natural gas price index BGSI, which measures changes in natural gas prices on a daily market amounted to 165.70 EUR/MWh. That is 58% increase compared to the last month. At the Lithuanian market area, BGSI amounted to 169.81 EUR/MWh (↑74%), at the Latvian-Estonian common market area – 166.54 EUR/MWh (↑42%), and in Finland – 162.84 EUR/MWh (↑39%). In July, the value of the Baltic -Finnish monthly market gas price index BGMI, which records changes in a monthly market prices, was 140.00 EUR/MWh.
