In June, natural gas trading was active at the Lithuanian market area
In the first month of summer of 2022, the trade turnover was higher than the previous month and reached 578 GWh of natural gas (May 2022 – 417 GWh). Compared to 2021 in June (456 GWh), turnover increased by 27%. The largest volume of purchases were on the Lithuanian market area, where 62% of the total exchange turnover (350 GWh) were purchased. Meanwhile, in the Latvian-Estonian common market area 24% (135 GWh) and in Finland 14% (78 GWh). In June, a total of 2,146 transactions were concluded in the daily and monthly markets, which is 47% more than last year when comparing the same period (1,457 transactions in June 2021). 51 participants of the exchange actively submitted orders on the exchange, all of them successfully concluded transactions.
Prices of individual transactions in June ranged from 151.26 EUR/MWh to 200.00 EUR/MWh. In June, the value of the Baltic and Finnish natural gas price index BGSI, which measures changes in natural gas prices on a daily market amounted to 104.66 EUR/MWh. That is 3% increase compared to the last month. At the Lithuanian market area, BGSI amounted to 97.38 EUR/MWh (↑0%), at the Latvian-Estonian common market area – 116.97 EUR/MWh (↑11%), and in Finland – 117.50 EUR/MWh (↑13%). The value of the gas price index BGMI of the Baltic countries and Finland for monthly transactions, which records changes in monthly market prices, amounted to EUR 100.00/MWh in June.
