In October, 708 GWh of gas was traded on the GET Baltic exchange
In October, a total of 2,831 transactions were concluded on the GET Baltic exchange, resulting in 708 GWh of natural gas traded entirely in the daily market. This marks the highest monthly trading volume since February this year. Cross-border (ICA) transactions accounted for one-fifth (151 GWh) of the total traded volume. The largest portion of gas was purchased in the
Latvian-Estonian common market area, totaling 305 GWh (43% of the total volume), followed by 221 GWh (31%) in Lithuania’s market area and 183 GWh (26%) in Finland.
In October, the Baltic-Finnish Gas Spot Index (BGSI), which captures changes in natural gas prices on the daily market, reached 41.74 EUR/MWh, this represents a 3% increase compared to September’s price of 40.37 EUR/MWh. The BGSI rose across all market areas in October: up 4% to 42.76 EUR/MWh in the Lithuanian market area, 4% to 41.39 EUR/MWh in the Latvian-Estonian common market area, and 3% to 41.16 EUR/MWh in Finland. Individual transaction prices in October ranged from 37.00 EUR/MWh to 49.85 EUR/MWh.
