Baltic Gas Exchange captures record hights of natural gas prices. Baltic Gas Exchange GET Baltic having finished first year of operation as regional gas exchange with record-breaking results, starts second year by more than 10% (22.56 EUR/MWh) increased average natural gas price. As the price has increased for six consecutive months, on June 2018 the weighted average price reached the highest level since the start of operation of Baltic Gas Exchange and has become one of the reasons of declined trading volumes. Decrease in trading volumes was also influenced by decreased supply in Lithuanian market area. On June 2018 exchange participants bought and sold 16 GWh of natural gas (415 GWh – June 2018). Despite the decline in trading volumes, market participants remained active, 13 participants submitted orders and concluded transactions. In total 214 transactions were concluded.
Baltic Gas Spot Index (BGSI) which captures changes of natural gas prices in the Baltics, value in July 2018 was 22.56 EUR/MWh and compared to June 2018 (20.33 EUR/MWh) increased by 10.97%. Exchange participants concluded transactions In Lithuanian market area paid the weighted average price of 22.58 EUR/MWh (↑11.12%), in Latvian market area – 22.49 EUR/MWh (↑5%), Estonian market area – 22.30 EUR/MWh (↑1.73%).
