The total number of exchange participants is growing – 70th participant has been registered. In November 2017 total number of participants amounted to 70 after two new exchange participants joined Baltic gas exchange. For the second consecutive month 12 participants actively participated in trading. In November their traded volumes exceeded 20 GWh and amounted to 20,137 MWh of natural gas. Compared to the same period last year total traded volume increased by 38% (15 GWh in November 2016) but compared to the traded volumes of October 2017 it decreased 2 times (41 GWh). A total number of 119 transactions were concluded among all market areas of the Baltic gas exchange. The greatest impact on the decrease in traded volumes and demand of natural gas was 1-3 °C higher temperature than the average temperature in November.
Baltic Gas Spot Index (BGSI), which captures changes of natural gas prices in the Baltics, value in November 2017 was 19.17 EUR/MWh. Compared to October 2017 index value increased by 6.09% (18.07 EUR/MWh). The weighted average price of concluded transactions in Lithuanian market area was 19.19 EUR/MWh, in Latvian market area – 19.18 EUR/MWh. Market participants trading on Estonian market area concluded transactions for the weighted average price of 18.10 EUR/MWh and for the second consecutive month paid the lowest price on the Baltic gas exchange.
