The beginning of cold season impacted the increase of traded volume
In November 2019 Baltic Gas Exchange GET Baltic traded volume amounted to 248 GWh. It is the highest traded volume in November since the beginning of gas exchange operations. Comparing year on year volume increased more than 7 times (November 2018 – 30 GWh). The increase of traded volumes was mainly due to seasonal increase in traded volumes on Lithuanian market area, which compared month on month increased 1.5 times. During November, all 788 transactions were concluded on a daily market. Comparing with the previous month, the amount of concluded transactions went up by 31% (October 2019 – 603 transactions). Accordingly, the volume of submitted orders on a daily market have grown – orders to purchase natural gas increased by 27% and orders to sell by 32%. Orders were submitted by 24 participants and all of them successfully concluded transactions.
Baltic Gas Spot Index (BGSI) which captures daily market gas prices changes in the Baltics, value in November 2019 was 16.54 EUR/MWh and compared to October 2019 (14.54 EUR/MWh), increased by 14%. Exchange participants concluded transactions in Lithuanian market area paid the weighted average price of 16.53 EUR/MWh (↑14%), in Latvian market area – 16.94 EUR/MWh (↑15%), Estonian market area – 16.45 EUR/MWh (↑11%).
