Estonian trade has begun to pick up – record number of transactions was concluded. Baltic Gas Exchange GET Baltic trading volumes in September 2018 have reached 79 GWh. Comparing traded volumes both month on month (191 GWh) and year on year (118 GWh) the turnover dropped. The greatest impact on traded volumes was due to decreases in Lithuanian market area. Meanwhile turnover in Latvian and Estonian market areas have boosted. Along with the end of August, repair works carried out at Karksi gas metering station, due to which available capacity for allocation on the Exchange was limited to 0 MWh, were completed and activity of market participants in Estonian market area increased even 5 times. The record number of transactions was captured: 63 – buy and 61 – sell transaction. In total 314 transactions were concluded during September, 17 market participants actively participated in trading (August 2018 – 16).

With natural gas prices maintaining upward trajectory, Baltic Gas Spot Index (BGSI), capturing changes of natural gas prices in the Baltics, value in September 2018 reached 24.73 EUR/MWh and compared to August 2018 (23.32 EUR/MWh) increased by 6.05%. Exchange participants concluded transactions in Lithuanian market area paid the weighted average price of 24.67 EUR/MWh (↑5.83%), in Latvian market area – 25.12 EUR/MWh (↑4.45%), Estonian market area – 23.93 EUR/MWh (↑7.21%).
