In June, the average price of gas on the GET Baltic natural gas exchange, operating in the Baltic States and Finland, was 39.78 EUR/MWh. This is 9% higher than in May (36.56 EUR/MWh) and 10% higher than in June 2023, when the average gas price in the region was 36.31 EUR/MWh.
With the start of the summer season, the volumes of gas trading have stabilized, but gas prices are rising for the third consecutive month. In June, the average price on the “GET Baltic” exchange in the Lithuanian market area was 8% higher than in May, reaching 39.98 EUR/MWh. In the common Latvian-Estonian market area, the gas price increased by 10% to 39.66 EUR/MWh. In Finland, the gas price also rose by 10% to 39.74 EUR/MWh. Individual transaction prices in June ranged from 35 to 54.35 EUR/MWh.
In June, more than 2 thousand gas purchase and sale transactions were made on the “GET Baltic” exchange, with a total of 427 GWh of gas traded. The largest volume of natural gas was purchased in the Lithuanian market area – 191 GWh (45% of the total volume), followed by the common Latvian-Estonian market area – 107 GWh (25%), and Finland – 128 GWh (30%).
