GET Baltic invites all natural gas market participants to provide comments and opinions on amended Regulation until 4th December, 2017. To enhance the liquidity on the Baltic Gas Exchange (hereinafter – Exchange) in the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian market areas GET Baltic intends to establish a new Exchange participant status – Market Maker. It is foreseen that prospective Market Makers will be available to execute the Market Maker’s functions from 1st January, 2018.
In order to implement the new Market Maker status GET Baltic prepared the draft amendment to GET Baltic Regulation of Trading on the Natural Gas Exchange (hereinafter – Regulation) and submitted them to the National Commission for Energy Control and Prices (NCC). On 23rd November, 2017 NCC announced a public consultation on the amendment of the Regulation and invited to provide comments and opinions until 4th December, 2017 (link to public consultation http://www.regula.lt)
The following key amendments to the Regulation have been made regarding the establishment of the Market Maker’s status and its principles of operation:
- posibility for the Exchange participants to become market makers;
- established basic principles of operation of the Exchange participants with market maker status, criteria for granting market maker status as well as the possibility of applying a discount to the Exchange trading fees that was approved by the NCC.
