Natural gas market operator UAB GET Baltic in order to inform all the natural gas market participants and other interested parties about trading on the natural gas Exchange has announced Report of Trade on Natural Gas Exchange for the first quarter of 2016. In Q1 2016, the turnover of natural gas was 74,789 MWh with a value of more than 1.37 million EUR. During the comparable period(Q1 2015) the turnover was 469,303 MWh with a value more than 12 million EUR. In total, during the Q1 2016, 457 transactions were carried out on the Exchange. It should be noted that transactions have been concluded continuously for each natural gas delivery day from the beginning of year 2015 until now.

The weighted average price of fulfilled transactions in Q1 2016 was 18.46 EUR/MWh, which is 7,83 EUR, or 30 % lower compared to the Q1 2015 when the weighted average price was 26.29 EUR/MWh. The highest price of fulfilled transactions in the analysed period was 21.00 EUR/MWh executed on 4 of January, while the lowest price of fulfilled transactions was 15.59 EUR/MWh executed on 17 of March.

The highest decrease in prices in Q1 2016 was recorded in the middle of February. During few days period price decreased by approximately 10% (from 18.98 EUR/MWh to 17.02 EUR/MWh) and stayed stable until the end of the analysed period. The sudden price change could be influenced by LNG supply contracts signed between “Statoil” and natural gas supply companies as well as significantly lower natural gas demand compared to natural gas supply.

In Q1 2016 total volume of submitted orders to sell was 4,906 GWh, meanwhile total volume of submitted orders to buy was 223 GWh.
